People of all ages, not just kids, love their sweet treats. Whether it's cake, ice cream, donuts, candies or pies, we all have that cravings for sugar from time to time. Children, especially, are fond of sweets. You don't want to deprive your little ones of dessert so just try for healthier alternatives!

Here are some quick and easy gluten-free desserts that are perfect for kids:

Fudgy Chocolate Cake In A Cup

What you need:

  • 3 tablespoons gluten-free flour (sifted)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 dollop ice cream
  • 1 pinch salt
In a large bowl, combine flour, caster sugar, 1 tablespoon cocoa and salt. Carefully mix in milk, butter and vanilla extract. Stir until ingredients are well-combined. Pour mixture in a microwave-safe mug and heat in the microwave for 1 minute.

Cool for a few minutes before dusting with remaining cocoa. Serve with ice cream on top.

Easy Apple Crumble

What you need:

  • 6 red apples, cored, peeled and each sliced into 8 wedges
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons raw sugar
  • 4 tablespoons rice flour
  • 3 tablespoons almond meal
  • 2 tablespoons desiccated coconut
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons margarine, softened
With a small amount of water, heat a pan over medium heat then place apple wedges to cook until tender. Remove from heat and set aside. To make the crumble, mix together 3/4 cup sugar, rice flour, almond meal, desiccated coconut and margarine in a bowl. Mix with clean hands until ingredients are well-combined.

Layer the cooked apples (along with the juices) in a greased oven-proof dish. Place crumble mix over apples and bake in a pre-heated oven (180C) for half an hour or until golden brown. Serve hot or cold with cream or yogurt.

Choco-Almond Crunchy Bites

What you need:

  • 4 pcs. SunRice Thick plain rice cakes, crumbled
  • 1/4 kg (or a little more) milk chocolate
  • 1/2 cup toasted sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup diced dried apricots
In a saucepan, melt the milk chocolate with a little bit of water over low heat. Once melted, add the crumbled rice cakes, almonds and apricots. Stir to combine ingredients well.

Remove from heat and scoop 1 tablespoon of the mixture at a time into a greased baking sheet. Allow a few minutes to cool and harden before serving.
